Some interviews are disasters waiting to happen.
But it does not have to be that way. You can prepare well, know
how the game is played, and practice so you have confidence and
poise under pressure. Check out these five easily avoided disaster
scenes.
- Not Knowing Who You Are: You must know your strengths
and weaknesses, because without those, you can't sell yourself,
or tailor your answers to what they want in the position.
- Being Overly Humble: You have to be comfortable talking
about yourself, selling yourself and telling the interviewer why
they should hire you.
- Going On And On, And Not Knowing When Or How To Stop:
Unprepared candidates ramble on, speak in a disorganized manner
and search for an ending as they speak. The remedy? Over prepare
in advance.
- Reading Or Relying On Your Resume: Never read from your
resume. Never answer, "That's on my resume".
- Poor Listening Skills: Want to irritate and alienate
a person? Don't listen to them.
